So I've been developing a new model for gathering gold that's meant to simulate an economy. The way it works is there is three tiers to a company (Here we have Woolworth Department Stores) The three tiers are Commerce, Office, and HQ. The way it works is commerce buildings have a gold gather bonus for offices and HQs. Each commerce adds a 33% bonus to office gold gather rate, and they also pass along a 33% gather rate to offices who then apply it the HQ The commerce building hold all of the bonuses, so you can't build a profitable HQ without 3 offices first, and you cant build an office without 3 commerce first. So what you have is 1 HQ per territory, 3 Offices per territory, and 9 commerce per territory, for each respective company, that are all generating gold. Next I'm going to be working on a tier above (Stock Exchange) and a tier below (Resource Production). HQs feed into the stock exchange. The Stock exchange produces gold, and inherent a gather bonus from HQs, and the stock exchange requires at least three HQs to have a minimum gather rate at 100%. The tier below is Resources producers. The idea here, is to move all of the commerce bonuses to resource producing buildings, because a business can't make money if it isn't being supplied with products to sell.
