Starship in EE2

After much work, I created a spaceship unit in EE2 with six rotating turrets that fire sequentially. The one thing I can't fix is the annoying hover animations which all air units seem have if canhover = 1. By that what I mean is the unit twitches side to side while idle, and tilts forward excessively when going forward. Changing canhover to 0 fixes this, but i kind seems strange to have a large starship that has to constantly move like an airplane.

Have you tried removing the "parent" of this UnitType from Helicopter? Maybe the partent has some animations enabled for it.

Does "UFO" unit from UP1.5 Normal Version has the same issue?

I solved it. I noticed that if you apply canhover = 1 to fighters they don't twitch. There is something in the unit upgrade factors that changes the idle animations. I made an upgrade factor derived from a fighter, for the starship and that solved the issue. From what I remember the UFO from 1.5 had the same issue. Before realizing what the problem was, I did change the parent to aircraft and other types and that didn't solve the problem.

Oh yes, animation, as expected.

Looks like the UFO in 1.5 has very little "hover moves", but they actually look good on this unit, better than if it was static I guess. After all it's an unit that arrived to the Earth and the gravitation affects it, not somewhere in the outer.

True. One man's bug is another man's feature lol. I also discovered that air units that fly above 15.0 cannot be selected. Not sure if there is a way to fix this or if I should just accept it

You can only select these units with the drag-and-drop. It's because they theoretically are not in the position we see them. Due to different camera angles we see them like they're in a different position than they really are towards the ground.

Right. I tried drag selection and it didn't work. Either it doesn't work above a certain height or it becomes unwieldy. Either way it seems like a bad idea to set cruise height at 45 lol.

Have you tried to drag way afar from the area of the ship? Maybe it would work somehow. By the way, some time ago Loew crested terrain textures for the space. It can be added in map editor.

I had to increase the maxzoom in myconfig in order to drag far enough away in order to select the unit. Seems to work now, thanks. and really? Do you have a link to his mod?

It's in Unofficial Patch 1.5 I believe. Or maybe it was just a map... i don't remember...
