More statistical data in: https://www.ee2.eu/multiplayer/

Hi, given the significant increase in multiplayer players, I find the possibility of observing the trend of appearances also on an annual basis (in addition to the daily, weekly and monthly already present) very interesting.

is it possible to create such a chart?

Thank you and good day.

Hi. The idea is good. I was thinking about it before, but there are few problems.

Let's take a look at: https://www.ee2.eu/statistics/?period=all#online
It's almost unreadable, due to so much data.
Now, multiply this number x 24 (because Multiplayer statistics show the usage every hour). Those statistics would look 24 times more busy than in the link mentioned above.

The good solution could be selecting only the hour with the highest number of players online for statistics longer than 30 days (365 days / all the time). That would make more sense. In the future I'll take a look if it can be loaded and optimized to work this way.

The idea seems good to me, then to reduce the resolution, you could make a weekly average of the daily peaks in order to smooth and make the curve of the graph more homogeneous without too many peaks that create confusion and difficulty in reading. This would decrease the accuracy and precision of the graph but observing a huge period of time I think it is negligible. I hope I have been clear, good evening.

I think the idea of "average" usage is a bad promotion for our Multiplayer services. Normally (skipping the coronavirus pandemic time) there are hours when no players are online at all. This would give very low numbers (3-5 players) as average on the graph. That's why, I think only using the hour with the highest number of players online would be the best solution.

I expressed myself badly, the average I would like to do is between the hours with multiple players (as you intend to do). In this way instead of having a data for each day (that of the hour with multiple players), we will have an average data for each week, all this with the aim of leveling the curve of the graph. This will reduce (if my thinking is correct) those annoying "peaks" that disturb the reading of the overall trend over a long period of time.

We can't determine those hours in 100%. There are times where let's say some Australian family plays few matches (10+ players + others), while the same day in the European evening there may only be for example 8 players. I think selecting the most active hour would be the best in this case, especially because it still would show what hour it was.

I understand the problem, you certainly have more experience than I do in managing and analyzing the lobby. I hope the result is the most reliable and easy to read, so as to give an idea of the annual progress of the game. With this I believe we can close the topic. Thanks for the clarifications.

No problem. I'll let you know when the preview version of new statistics is ready, so I'll leave this topic open for now.

Okay... Looks like I'm prioritizing EE2 too much... So it's finished:

https://www.ee2.eu/multiplayer/#yearstatistics
https://www.ee2.eu/multiplayer/#allstatistics

Chart colors look a bit LGBTQ+ but I couldn't find more readable ones.

Very interesting, I also saw it this morning and after the various observations I forgot to answer. With these graphs, the trend of the last period is much clearer compared to the whole year and compared to previous years. Great job thanks!
