EE2, EE2X - Empire Earth II - Unofficial Patch 1.4 (2013)

OK, this solution should work for you:
1. Be sure you installed Unofficial Patch 1.4 which supports 1366x768.
2. Go to: Computer, C:/
Click tab: "View" in Windows Explorer, and check two options:
- File name extensions
- Hidden items
Like in this screenshot:


3. Now go to:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Sierra\Empire Earth II\settings
Open file: settings.cfg with Notepad.
Find a line:

displayMode = Res800x600x32

(not sure if it's 800x600, but important value is "displayMode =")
Replace it to:

displayMode = Res1152x864x32

(Res1152x864x32 is 1366x768 in Unofficial Patch 1.4).
And save the changes (ctrl+s).

4. For Empire Earth II: The Art of Supremacy, edit the same file in:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Sierra\Empire Earth II The Art of Supremacy\settings

Now Empire Earth 2 should start even without Windows 8 FIX.

Please tell me if it solved your problem.

EDIT: Mcaffee may cause the problem that you can't maximize. A friend of mine had the similar problem (Windows 8 FIX didn't work for him), and he was also using Mcaffee. Unfortunately I don't know if uninstalling solves the problem, but if you want you can try it

I uninstalled Mcaffee and changed the settings. Still the same problem

If you really want to play, then run Empire Earth 2 in windowed mode:

it will work on 100%, but still not in Full screen

Thx. At least I can play it. Aince the game is running lagfree, I would have No other disadvantages beside the little smaller window, I think.

You can change the screen display resolution to lower, when you start EE2 go to: Settings / Video / Display mode.
Anyway, the game should work in Full screen, I've no idea why it's not working for you
What graphics card have you got?
If it's NVIDIA - go to NVIDIA "Control Panel / Adjust desktop size and positions" and check: "Full-screen", then save the chages. Like in this screenshot (but "Full-screen" should be selected instead of "No scaling").

Of course to see if it works you can't run EE2 in windowed mode.

I have a intel hd 4000.

I cant join ppl on game ranger keeps saying different version config files don't match.

Tried downloading and installing the patch again and also tried running in compatibility mode for xp sp2.

Compatibility mode did come up with different error but was too fast to read and then went back to same config file error as before after that.

Please download these configuration files, and paste them to the folder where you installed EE2 (Default it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Sierra\Empire Earth II).

It should fix the problem.

If it doesn't help - reinstall Empire Earth II. If you're unable to uninstall the game, try to do this with this FIX:

Sorry just played a 2.5hr game by myself and was really late when I saw this.

Those to files actually dont already exist in my copy of the game for some reason so maybe thats the problem.

When I save those files are they supposed to have each line of text numbered or is that just how your filesharing site displays it?

Hi, the lines are numbered only at mediafire.com (filesharing service). Please use the "Download' button to save the *.cfg files to your EE2 folder. The file cannot be modified to play online. Every single change will cause "config files don't match" error.

That's weird, but possible. Could you tell me where did you get your version of EE2? Is this CD, DVD, Direct-download, cracked?
If this problem appears to anyone else - I'll include these configuration files in the next version of UP1.4 Installer.
