Any way to optimize EE2 fps

Is there a way to optimize EE2 (AOS 1.5)? It's hard to play after about 30-40 minutes when I have 1-5 fps all the time, even looking at the water with lowest settings. High temperature is not a problem, it is about 50 Celsius degrees. My latest game was 4 player 4000 population at biggest mediterrnean map, and i had about 1-3 fps later in the game and 30 at the start. I will try later with smaller number of pop and smaller map. Again, is there a way to optimize it?

For comparision, I am running League of Legends at 80-100 fps with medium settings on this computer

Hi, I had GTX 330M in my old laptop, and I had over ~7FPS in games with 4000 population.
First I would recommend to downgrade NVIDIA drivers, for more details please read:

And the lag is normal in EE2, this game has a horrible optimization, and unfortunately we can't do anything for it

Thank you for answer, I formatted my hard disk and launched the game with game booster and i hosted a 3 people game large map and 3000 pop, I had about 10 fps while looking at the battle. I also noticed that games without AI dont lag so much (they are moving troops all the time). Ill try downgr
