OK, I tested and GameRanger crashes my game, when I use ALT+TAB.
But it doesn't crash when I minimize EE2 by Logo-Windows Key on my keyboard. So you just should minimize the game via this key
Game crash

Re: Game crash
Hey guys, I found a solution.
If you don't want GameRanger to crash your game, every time you minimize the game:
1. Go to the folder where you installed EE2, Default it is: C:/Program Files (x86)/Sierra/Empire Earth II
2. Click the right mouse button on EE2.exe, and select: "Properties".
3. Go to the tab: "compatibility", and check option: "Run this program as Administrator".
4. Click OK to save the changes.
(example screenshot):
Empire Earth II WON'T LONGER CRASH because of GameRanger.

Re: Game crash
UPDATE!
I made a small "trick" with new launchers files from Unofficial Patch 1.4 Update 2.0 ( http://www.forum.ee2.eu/t1636-ee2-1.4 )
The new launcher file (EE2-v1.4.exe or EE2X-v1.4.exe) detects if file EE214.exe or EE2X14.exe exists in the folder. If the file exists, it starts EE214.exe or EE2X14.exe instead of EE2.exe or EE2X.exe.
So to solve the problem:
1. Install Unofficial Patch 1.4 Update 2.0
2. Go to a folder where you installed EE2
3. Rename EE2.exe and EE2X.exe to: EE214.exe and EE2X14.exe
4. Rename EE2-v1.4.exe and EE2X-v1.4.exe to: EE2.exe and EE2X.exe
5. Solved.
Now GameRanger will crash your EE2.exe file which is just the launcher, and the game will be still running from EE214.exe file.
You will be still able to play Games on GameRanger, because my EE2-v1.4.exe sends the same arguments induced by GR to EE214.exe
